Andrea Edwards, also known as Andie,  is an Artist and a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. Her work addresses modern femininity, especially related to motherhood.

She was raised in a small agricultural town, often sharing space and stories with migrant families in the Hispanic community. It was in the women around her, and in her own journey as a woman, that her reverence for the feminine spirit took root. From this rich landscape of labor, love, and resilience, Andrea paints the unseen, the beauty, struggle, and legacy of women whose voices too often go unheard. Her work is a tribute, a bearing witness, and a celebration of the feminine spirit. Her practice includes painting, ceramics, murals, and photography, all with a preoccupation for femininity, color, and brush stroke that tells Her-story.

Andrea is a graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in Nursing and has dual nursing certifications in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing and Electronic Fetal Monitoring. Andrea is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She is currently living and working in the suburbs outside of Seattle where both her nursing and artistic practices intertwine in meaningful ways.

Andrea’s work can be seen throughout the world including the U.S, Canada, England, and New Zealand. Andrea’s work has appeared in multiple editions of Natural Home Magazine, and Mother Earth Living. Most recently one of her paintings was chosen as the cover art for the 50th anniversary edition of the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN).

“Nursing and Art are not as far apart as some might think. Both are purposeful, soulful practices in human connection, creativity, and intuition”
